Everybody Is A Genius (Until They Conform)

“Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”

— Einstein

Humans have a range of intelligence that depend on their genes, their upbringing, and what & how they are educated as they grow up.

If you judge a student by their ability to conform or obey, then you are just wrong – although these systems love obedience and conformity.

What subjects and ideas are you interested in? Stick with those. You don’t need to learn everything to be smart or to be a genius.

Also, don’t be afraid to go your own way.

Don’t be afraid to question what you are being taught.

Don’t be afraid to be a “misfit”.

Love yourself & appreciate others as they are. Stay away from those who hate you for being different.

And never ever judge someone for going their own way and not conforming to what others are doing.

Those who go their own way are the leaders.

“It is no measure of heath to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.”

— Jiddu Krishnamurti

Question Governments, Churches, Society

“That government, society, or religion is useless where people are not allowed to ask questions.”

— Galileo

Chomsky said, “A citizen who questions nothing is the governments favorite creation.”

The government is good at persuading its citizens to blindly & fearfully obey the government.

They are even better at putting fear into people so that people are afraid to think for themselves.

The majority of people become indoctrinated to believe that there is no other way. So they don’t question the government or church or society.

And the citizens learn to outcast the individual who questions things; The individual who uses their brain to ask itself questions & ask others questions; The philosopher. The lone wolf.

Hundreds of years ago communities labeled those people “witches” and “demons” – the people who questioned the government or church.

The power to conform blindly to authority has always been stronger than taking a stand.

Throughout human history, authority figures have always used violence to silence anyone who questioned them.

It’s sad but it’s true.

But we are entering a new earth. A new phase in human existence (if AI doesn’t destroy humanity.)

This new phase will use scientific evidence & intelligent & facts instead of blindly obeying political organizations or the church (politics).

No one should fear their government whom is supposedly here to “protect and serve,” (& not just protect and serve the wealthiest people in its country…)

When everyone around you seems to be conforming, don’t be afraid to lead.

Following is conformity. Leading is courage.

Compare Less, Lead More

“Do not compare, do not measure. No other way is like yours. All other ways deceive and tempt you. You must fulfill the best way that is in you.”

— Carl Jung

Comparison is a form of following.

And we all follow someone, or some idea.

And then usually we compare ourselves with the idea we follow – & the other followers of the idea – whether it’s a religious idea, a scientific idea, an athletic idea, an educational idea, a government idea, an artists idea, etc.

We find ourselves comparing ourselves to those we want to fit in with.

We mostly follow, and that’s ok.

So what does it mean to lead?

The answer differs for all people.

To lead is to find your own style; to find what works for you.

Research and learn about the subjects and ideas and people and organizations you are interested in.

Don’t try to imitate them completely – but think about what it is you admire about them, and try applying it to your life.

Choose multiple role models, multiple organizations, multiple ideas, and choose from a place that comes from within you – & not a place of just trying to appear a certain way.

Keep learning & keep changing if you discover more things you are interested in.

It’s ok to change.

It’s ok to not conform.

And it’s ok to lead.

Dare To Use Your Mind

“The man who obeys his own mind is accused of rebellion by those who never used theirs.”

Education is powerful – real education – and not just repeating something you hear.

Real education involves using your own mind. Reading. Thinking. Learning.

And to not just conform to being a mindless lifeless nothing of a person.

Governments love mindless obedient servants, and if a real genius or real spiritual teachers arrives on the planet – the government does what it can to shut them up, since the government doesn’t want educated citizens. They want scared obedient slaves.

They want people to give up their own mind, their own education, to conform to being an ignorant, scared, anxious, person.

And then you can take all the prescription pills from big pharma to make it so you’re numb to what the government has actually done to you.

OR!! You can say no. To the government. They do not own you, or me, or anyone.

Well maybe they own you, but they don’t own me.

I am my own master. I use my mind. I learn.

I lead my life, and I don’t let any mindless ignorant fearful conformists get in my way. Trust me, they’ve tried.

And for a year or two I really wondered how so many people have given up their own mind – and why they did so…

fear, probably. Maybe to fit in with all the other no-minded “people” ..

who knows, but I will never ever give up my mind and my education to fit in with ignorant, mindless, dead-minded people.

To Be Weird or To Fit In

“A secret to happiness is to be as weird as you like, and the wrong people will leave the party but the right ones will join the dance.”

Weird. Weird. Weird.

We all live in a yellow submarine. Well, I do at least, and that’s pretty weird.

Kids are pretty weird, but they lose their weirdness as they try fitting in with others as they “grow up.”

Conformity. Conformity. Conformity.

Many of us are taught to conform. To “obey or else,” and that almost always takes our uniqueness away from us.

People who are different almost always get ridiculed and made fun of by “normal” conformists – who have lost themselves in order to fit in.

“They laugh at me for being different. I laugh at them for being all the same.”

Maybe there can be a balance between fitting in and being your own person. 50/50 60/40 70/30 80/20 90/10, or whatever makes you live what you believe in.

It’s okay to fit in, and it’s okay to be weird.

Aging versus Maturing

“Most people don’t grow up. Most people age. They find parking spaces, honor their credit cards, get married, have children, and call that maturity. What that is, is aging.”

— Maya Angelou

Let’s face it – humans are mostly shallow.

We mostly live by appearances – the way people & things “appear” to be.

And the older people get – the more they seem to lose their inner self in order to fit in with the way things appear to be.

But the way things appear, are rarely how they actually are.

Emerson said “It is not length of life, but depth.”

If we are living in shallow, reactive, consumerist societies, where is the time for any depth?

Cultivating depth in your life is where maturing happens, and if you don’t do that, you only age – like most people.

Steve Jobs said “Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.”

First, understand that the majority of people on earth never find their inner voice, the inner self, and they live life reacting to life circumstances.

That is perfectly okay, but if you want to break free from the reactive ways of society, you must find your inner voice.

You have an inner voice – everybody does – but like I said, they usually lose it as they age.

If it was easy, everyone would do it. What is easy is losing your voice to conform to what’s going on outside of you. What is easy is following.

What is difficult, is leading. Especially leading from within.

People will call you crazy for having a life & mind of your own, since they’ve conformed to the shallow ways of society. But those are the people you do not want to listen to, or fit in with, if you want to have depth in your life.

Be in the world but not of it!!!

Spend time alone with yourself, away from the tv and technology – to connect with yourself. To detach from the outside world and seek the power within yourself.

Meditate. Go into nature.

Nikola Tesla said “The mind is sharper and keener in seclusion and uninterrupted solitude.”

If you’re never alone, it’s almost impossible to know who you really are – and I think the majority of people don’t care or are afraid of being with themselves.

Blaise Pascal said “All of humanity’s problems stem from man’s inability to sit quietly in a room alone.”

If you can enjoy spending time with yourself, alone with yourself – you will begin finding depth in your life – although you may be called strange. That’s ok. I’m very strange, and I love myself.

Jiddu Krishnamurti said “It is of no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society.”

So you can spend your life trying to fit in with shallow people, or you can take the journey of self discovery.

Will you age? Or mature?

The choice is yours.

12 Ideas from Thoreau’s “Civil Disobedience”

The year was 1849.

The philosopher Henry David Thoreau was in jail for refusing to pay his poll tax to protest the Mexican-American war and slavery.

Reflecting on his night in jail, Thoreau wrote an essay titled “Civil Disobedience”

Here are 12 quotes from this essay that capture its essence:

1 “This American government — what is it but a tradition, though a recent one, endeavoring to transmit itself unimpaired to posterity, but each instant losing some of its integrity?”

… “Governments show thus how successfully men can be imposed upon, even impose on themselves, for their own advantage.”

2 “I ask for, not at once no government, but at once a better government. Let every man make known what kind of government would command his respect, and that will be one step toward obtaining it.”

3 “It is truly enough said that a corporation has no conscience; but a corporation of conscientious men is a corporation with a conscious.”

4 “A common and natural result of an undue respect for the law is, that you may see a file of soldiers, colonel, captain, corporal, privates, powder-monkeys, and all, marching in admirable order over hill and dale to the wars, against their wills, ay, against their common sense and consciences, which makes it very steep marching indeed, and produces a palpitation of heart…. Now, what are they? Men at all? Or small movable forts and magazines, at the service of some unscrupulous man in power?”

5 “The mass of men serve the state thus, not as men mainly, but as machines, with their bodies…In most cases there is no free exercise whatever of the judgment or of the moral sense; but they put themselves on a level with wood and earth and stones; and wooden men can perhaps be manufactured that will serve the purpose as well. Such command no more respect than men of straw or a lump of dirt. They have the same sort of worth only as horses and dogs. Yet such as these even are commonly esteemed good citizens.”

6 “There are thousands who are in opinion opposed to slavery and to the war, who yet in effect do nothing to put an end to them.”

7 “Unjust laws exists: shall we be content to obey them, or shall we endeavor to amend them, and obey them until we have succeeded, or shall we transgress them at once?”

8 “But if it is of such nature that it requires you to be an agent of injustice to another, then I say, break the law.”

9 “Is there not a sort of bloodshed when the conscience is wounded? Through this wound a man’s real manhood and immortality flow out, and he bleeds an everlasting death. I see this blood flowing now.”

10 “Thus the state never intentionally confronts a man’s sense, intellectual or moral, but only his body, his senses. It is not armed with superior wit or honesty, but with superior physical strength. I was not born to be forced. I will breathe after my own fashion.”

11 “If we were left solely to the wordy wit of legislators in Congress for our guidance, uncorrected by the seasonal experience and the effectual complaints of the people, America would not long retain her rank among the nations.”

12 “The progress from an absolute to a limited monarchy, from a limited monarchy to a democracy, is a progress toward a true respect for the individual.”

Conformity, Persuasion, Words

“I don’t care what you say anymore, this is my life. Go ahead with your own life, leave me alone!”

— Billy Joel

How are you living your life?

What do you believe in?

What sort of people do you listen to? And do you believe them?

Are you living your life based on how someone else told you to live?

Do you think others should have your beliefs?

Have you taken time to think about what you believe in? (And not just what you’ve been told to believe.)

“Blind belief in authority is the greatest enemy of truth.”

— Einstein

Live your life & don’t let any losers persuade you into being another crab in the bucket.

Do This To Be More Self-Empowered

“Nature is not mute. It is humans who are deaf.”

Noises surround you daily, keeping you moving, but in what direction?

There really are certain “powers that be” that live to create distracting noises.

They want to keep you in fear, in anxiety, in anger, etc…basically, they want you to be dis-empowered.

They want to control you & your life & they have brainwashed the masses to try to distract you too, and to bring you into their confusion.

What you need to do to begin to get out of the confusion of the conformist masses, is first, recognize this is really happening.

Second, think about your life & what sort of life you would like to be living.

What does your ideal life look like?

Dare to dream.

Dare to step away from the conformists confused masses & live your best life.

Before listening to the distracting noises, listen to yourself. Listen to nature. Go within.

Reclaim Your Mind

“Reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that’s being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.”
― Terence McKenna

Culture wants you to conform.

It wants you to blindly obey.

But you were born to be free.

You were born with a mind to think for yourself.

This is extremely difficult in societies that aggressively attack non-conformists.

“For nonconformity the world whips you with its displeasure.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

This choice is yours.

And yes, if you choose to think for yourself you will lose friends. Some family members may disown you. But what you will find in this process is the truth.

You will find genuine support from the few who are living their truths as well.

It is a risk, but it is a risk worth taking, and a risk that might possibly save the world.
