After a week(and probably much more) of diving into subjects I could write about or research more, I got into mysticism(sometime in 2019).
Well after ‘going down a rabbit hole’ of what I’m interested in, it led me to metaphysics, so for 3-4 hours I researched metaphysics and it is a huge interest of mine – there also isn’t a definite definition of metaphysics, I found that it was created by Aristotle’s works – Aristotle didn’t create it, but after he died, an editor of his works named one of his works “beyond physics”(translated) which is now known as metaphysics.
Metaphysics is really about questioning reality, coming up with theories about it, and testing those theories.
So as much as I have been doing this for years-at least the questioning and coming up with theories of reality, I hadn’t known I was doing metaphysics.
&My interest is more than just metaphysics, so I continued to dive into it and found some similarities to mysticism – a similarity I found with these two topics is that they both dive deeply into truth’s about reality – the difference though is that mysticism is more of a whole body experience of oneness with all, and metaphysics is the logical seeking for what is life? What is the answer? Etc etc..and I think that Mysticism may be the answer to metaphysics. —a problem here though is that supposedly mystic experiences can’t be put into words, which I understand, but what if it could?
“…He asked, “Where are you today, right now?”
Eagerly, I started talking about myself. However, I noticed that I was still being sidetracked from getting answers to my questions. Still, I told him about my distant and recent past and about my inexplicable depressions. He listened patiently and intently, as if he had all the time in the world, until I finished several hours later.
“Very well,” he said. “But you still have not answered my question about where you are.”
“Yes I did, remember? I told you how I got to where I am today: by hard work.”
“Where are you?”
“What do you mean, where am I?”
“Where Are you?” he repeated softly.
“Where is here?”
“In this office, in this gas station!” I was getting impatient with this game.
“Where is this gas station?”
“Where is Berkeley?”
“Where is California?”
“In the United States?”
“On a landmass, one of the continents in the Western Hemisphere. Socrates, I…”
“Where are the continents?
I sighed. “On the earth. Are we done yet?”
“Where is the earth?”
“In the solar system, third planet from the sun. The sun is a small star in the Milky Way galaxy, all right?”
“Where is the Milky Way?”
“Oh, brother,” I sighed impatiently, rolling my eyes. “In the universe.” I sat back and crossed my arms with finality.
“And where,” Socrates smiled, “is the universe?”
“The universe is well, there are theories about how it’s shaped…”
“That’s not what I asked. Where is it?”
“I don’t know – how can I answer that?”
“That is the point. You cannot answer it, and you never will. There is no knowing about it. You are ignorant of where the universe is, and thus, where you are. In fact, you have no knowledge of where anything is or of what anything is or how is came to be. Life is a mystery. My ignorance is based on this understanding. Your understanding is based on ignorance. This is why I am a humorous fool, and you are a serious jackass.”
As I was gazing at stars tonight in the pool, I had this thought…
I want to be financially free just like the next person, but this does not mean I should be living my whole life only to make money.
I spend a lot of time thinking about how I will earn my next dollar. I think a lot of people do, and I realized that I do not want to be consumed by the thought of money. Life is so much more than these pieces of paper we use for transactions.
So what is life about? …It’s NOT about making money.
- Life is about making the world better than it was before you came to this Earth.
- Life is about having a positive influence on the lives of others.
- Life is about finding something you truly love doing, then doing it until you become an expert!
- Life is about spending time with people who support & love you; stop spending time with people who only bring you down.
- Life is about the adventure.
- Life is about finding answers to questions but also accepting that some questions won’t be answered.
- Life is about Living.
What is life about for you?
Life is not meant to be wasted constantly thinking about the dollar bill. Or the five, or the ten, or the twenty, fifty, not even the hundred dollar bill. Crazy huh?
I know that money is a necessity when it comes to paying the bills and raising a family, but you can be pursuing what you love as you make money in another way (A Job) until you start getting paid for what you love doing (Your Captivating Career).
Do you truly want to spend your days consumed by the thought of money? Or do you want to free your mind and start truly living the life meant to be lived? The choice is yours…
Get off of the couch and go for a walk. Call a friend or family member. Think about how you can positively impact this world, your community, one person, and then do it! Take time to think of what you love doing, and try to figure out how you can make a job out of it. Appreciate and be thankful for what you have, for one day, this too shall pass.
Think it’s impossible? It’s not. More and more people are doing what they love. This is a new day, a new age, a new generation. Here is one awesome example of a person who quit their job to follow their passion:
